Tas: Veteran MP has breast cancer

Veteran Tasmanian state MP SUE NAPIER says she has breast cancer and will step down
from politics to have treatment.

The 60-year-old MP says the cancer was detected at an early stage and the prognosis is positive.

Mrs NAPIER says she looks forward to resuming her opposition ministerial responsibilities
in up to eight weeks time.

She was first elected to the state seat of Bass in 1992.
