SA: Nitschke says children also suffer
Euthanasia campaigner PHILIP NITSCHKE says including provisions for children as young as 12
in voluntary euthanasia laws is a reasonable option to consider.
Commenting on moves by the Netherlands to legalise euthanasia, even for children, Dr
NITSCHKE's told the Channel Nine Today show that children also suffered dreadfully from
terminal illness.
Dr NITSCHKE says he hasn't seen details of the legislation proposed in the Netherlands but
he's reaffirmed his view that Australia should move down a similar track.
The doctor's comments come as he begins the second day of euthanasia clinics in Adelaide
where he'll see about 10 terminally-ill patients to answer their questions about ending their
lives.
The South Australian government warns that his actionas were being watched carefully.
Dr NITSCHKE also intends to hold clinics interstate.
